The really awesome thing about getting older is realizing how pathetically little I know about the world. Specifically food. Apparently there are different types of persimmons and of course, the kind that I bought is the kind that is notorious for being really bitter and astringent when they’re not fully ripe. The more you know!
Every time I go grocery shopping and see expensive granola, I die a little inside. I mean, no matter what fancy extras you add to it, it’s still just oats! Luckily, homemade granola is insanely easy to make, and this recipe in particular is fast becoming one of my favorites.
I’ll never buy overpriced granola from the store again!
I have a love-hate relationship with granola. On the one hand, it’s crunchy, which I love; on the other hand, it’s so crunchy it destroys my mouth, like I’m eating gravel or something. It’s the meth habit I’m trying to kick, the abusive boyfriend I’m trying to get rid of. Those are probably exaggerations, but I just get really intense about granola, okay?
